Acupuncture

Acupuncture is usually performed by the insertion of needles through the skin to treat bodily dysfunction or diseases, modify or prevent pain perception, and normalize the body’s physiological functions.  I am aware that certain adverse side effects may result.  These could include, but are not limited to, local bruising, minor bleeding, fainting, pain or discomfort, and the possible aggravation of symptoms existing prior to acupuncture treatment.  I use different styles of acupuncture in my work depending on what is the best fit for each person I am helping, and sometimes this can change from session to session based on individual needs.

If interested, ask for non-needle methods such as tuning forks, seeds, crystals, reiki. I can do any type of style with these methods and even with using gentle pressure or light touch with my hands along the meridians for meridian balancing.  I would like you relaxed – always ; )

I am a Certified SeiTai ShinPo Acupuncturist focusing on natural alignment of the spine, shoulders, and hips, and correction to engage the body’s optimum state of balance as well as to increase healing.  SeiTai ShinPo style is a Japanese style based on painless needle insertion, direct moxibustion, and a type of stretching and specialized physical therapy exercises tailored to each person’s imbalance, called So Tai Ho.  I have been blessed to work alongside my teachers in their clinics and seminars to practice my skills so I can be as gentle as possible for patients to receive healing and relaxation through their entire session and after they leave.  I am still studying with Dr. Chieko Maekawa to understand how to best treat complicated cases and increase my wisdom.

In addition, I also practice more TCM or Traditional Chinese Medical acupuncture styles based on stronger stimulation of points with “retained” acupuncture needles for 5-25 minutes (left in the body = retained).  I still like to use a gentle needling style, and find this type of style can be extremely relaxing for stress reduction and children…especially my signature “Rainbow Dragon Treatments” which you are welcome to ask about.

In addition to these two main styles, there are many subvariations of each, as well as sports and electric acupuncture or what is today becoming more well known in some places as “dry needling.”  Electric stimulation of acupuncture points is very helpful to alleviate nerve damage, pain, and help regenerate flow of qi, blood, and signals between your brain and injured areas.  I use very mild voltage at levels you dictate for 15 minutes or less, which I find very helpful for some folks.  Inquire about this if you are curious.
